Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini’s classic Suor Angelica offers a tantalizing exploration of the inner worlds of thought and memory. This imaginative new production, conducted by Saverio Alfieri and directed by Stefanos Koroneos, gives our emerging singers the space and structure to explore the traditional operatic language of verismo and honor the emotional force at the heart of Puccini’s music, while exploring the dramatic and storytelling possibilities of opera today — approaching Suor Angelica not as a museum object, but as a work built and shaped by the stories of women who were compelled to obey, driven by love, and ultimately forced to surrender the unspeakable.

Kristina Shafranski reprises the title role of Puccini’s SUOR ANGELICA with Camerata Bardi, under the baton of Saverio Alfieri.
